罗伯特·奥利弗·里奇,剑桥大学哲学及科学博士,美国国家工程院院士、英国皇家工程院院士、俄罗斯科学院及瑞典工程科学院外籍院士。2012年入选“外专千人计划”特聘教授到北航工作,成立自然材料及仿真国际研究中心并担任中心主任。
里奇教授在金属材料、陶瓷材料及生物材料的疲劳与断裂机理领域成果卓著,包括早年提出的解理断裂RKR经典模型,以及近来提出了重要的本征韧性和外在韧性概念,基于此发展了对陶瓷等脆性材料疲劳行为的深刻理解,并依据此概念在生物工程方面开发了可供人体植入物使用的高损伤容限性金属玻璃。发表论文650余篇,包括在Science、Nature、Nature Materials、先进材料等杂志发表的多篇论文,合著著作15余本,H-index:83。同时,里奇教授也是美国材料学会会员,美国金属学会终身会员,美国陶瓷学会会员,美国机械工程师学会会员,国际断裂学会荣誉会员及主席,英国IOP、IOM会员,并获得了国际材料学界几乎所有重要的奖项,如Acta Materialia金奖,MRS David Turnbull奖,A.
