主持并参与国家级、省部级、校级科研项目十余项。先后发表学术论文30余篇，出版学术专著1部、对外汉语教材2部。获“第七届高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖（人文社会科学）”三等奖，连续获得第十届、第十一届“国际汉语教学研讨会”创新论文优秀奖。
SUN Yanyan is a professor, academic adviser for the MA program and also the director of International Chinese Training Center in the School of Humanities at BUPT. She is the supervisor of the Chinese Languages and Characters in the National Language Committee, a member of Association of Chinese Linguistics, a member of Beijing Language Association, a member of academic committee of the Confucius Institute of BUPT and the expatriate dispatched examiner of the China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Her research interests are text linguistics and the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. She has presided over and participated in more than 10 scientific research projects at the national, provincial, and school level, published more than 30 academic papers, authored one monograph, and edited two TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) textbooks. She obtained the third prize of “The 7th Outstanding Achievement Award of Science Research in Higher Institution (Humanity and Social Science)”. She also won the Excellent Prize of the innovative papers at the tenth and eleventh “International Seminar on Teaching Chinese”.
